The Brief

Like all good things, Empty Room Sessions was born out of hardship. Along with shutting down every live music venue in the country, COVID had also put a stop to pretty well everything Yeah Rad had lined up work wise. Around mid march, Joe Mueller, the booker for the Lansdowne and Marys, called us up to pitch Empty Rooms.

It was right around the time those Iso-laid shows were kicking off, but a lot of those were just artists playing acoustic guitars at home on their iPhones, so we wanted to make sure that if these were supposed to be live shows, they really felt like live shows; on a real stage, with the energy and vibe you’d expect if you were front row at the Lansdowne.

Shooting these there was only ever one take, no do-overs, so it felt as live as possible.

And so, Empty Room Sessions was born. Check out some of our favourite episodes below.

The Results

What began as an unpaid passion-project during a global pandemic turned into some thirty episodes and got sponsored by Jack Daniels, delivering live shows right to your living rooms.
